In collaboration with one of our awesome community member, we have put together an FAQ page that we hope will provide some insight to questions that you may have. Please utilize the drop down arrows to display the answers to each respective question.

Please note, if you find a question missing that you believe will help our community, please feel free to contact us and we will update our list!

To report an emergency, please contacted 911 immediately. This allows for all necessary information to be collected and disseminated to responding officers in order to ensure that appropriate resources are dispatched.

To report a non-emergency, please contact 911. This allows for all necessary information to be collected and disseminated to an officer when one becomes available. Please note, officers respond to calls based on severity, so there may be times when responses to non-emergency calls are delayed .

Reports of Domestic Abuse/Violence can either be reported through 911 or by a walk-in report. NRPD Officers will work with victims and families of Domestic Abuse/Violence to coordinate the safest method for reporting. Please note, we ask that you still contact 911 and let them know that you would like to file a report our police station.

If you need to file either a civil complaint or a private criminal complaint you will need to contact your local magistrate. More information can be found here.

NRPD police and accident reports can be obtained at the NRPD station for a fee, during normal building hours. Please note, that only reports that are completed can be obtained. Click here for more information.

Accidents in Pennsylvania are separated into two categories: Reportable and Non-Reportable

o Reportable accidents are accidents in which a person(s) is injured, and or the vehicle(s) is inoperable. If you are involved in or witness a reportable accident, please contact 911 immediately.

o Non-Reportable accidents are accidents in which no injury and or no tow is required. In accordance with Title 75, Chapter 37, Section 3744 Duty to give information and render aid, all parties involved in a Non-Reportable Accident must provide the following information:
• Valid Driver’s License
• Vehicle Registration
• Proof of Financial Responsibility (Insurance)

o Please note, even though Non-Reportable Accidents do not require an officer to be present, NRPD Officers can assist with the process if assistances is requested.

There are multiple ways an individual can apply for a Protection from Abuse Order, otherwise known as a PFA. Click here for a helpful guide.

For immediate concerns regarding the safety of a child, please contact 911. Otherwise, reports can be filed through Allegheny County Children, Youth and Family. Click here for a direct link to CYF.

Individuals can contact NRPD during normal business hours and request an appointment to have their child’s safety seat inspected.

A Right to Know request can be made on the NRPD Main screen by clicking the blue box labeled “Right-To-Know or by clicking here.
